Job summary

Jefferson Parish Schools is seeking an Assistant Custodian at CHATEAU ESTATES SCHOOL in Kenner, LA. The role supports the plant manager in daily cleaning, safety, and appearance of the school facilities.

You will also cover in the Head Custodian’s absence and help maintain orderly classrooms and common areas. The schedule is full-time with an eight-hour day and potential overtime; candidates must be able to read and follow work orders, operate basic maintenance tasks, handle chemicals safely,

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write effectively and be able to comprehend instruction on operation of equipment of all types and use of chemicals and have the ability to perform light maintenance functions.
• Ability to read and write effectively and comprehend equipment instructions.
• Ability to perform light maintenance and handle chemicals safely.

Responsibilities

• Opens building in morning; secures building in afternoon.
• Maintains cleanliness of halls and entrances during day.
• Replaces light globes or fluorescent tubes.
• Removes trash and debris from premises.
• Light maintenance functions, minor repairs and servicing as needed.
• Cleans classrooms and common areas per work schedule.
