Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Carpenter to support the district-wide facilities. The role covers carpentry, plumbing, painting, low voltage work, doors, roofing, and general maintenance to keep school facilities safe and functional.

The technician manages work orders, establishes preventative maintenance, and may supervise on-site staff. On-call duties and coordination with contractors are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, doors, painting and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of low voltage systems and energy management.
• Ability to schedule preventive maintenance and manage work orders.
• Ability to supervise on-site maintenance staff and coordinate with contractors.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the District Carpenter/Handyman responsible for repairs to floors, walls, doors and hardware.
• Inspects and monitors furnishings, walls, windows, doors and floors for safe operation.
• Participates in completing and scheduling preventive maintenance work orders.
• Maintains, replaces and installs new commercial-grade door hardware.
• Monitors low voltage systems including security, lighting and energy management.
• Performs painting across the district including schedules and priorities.
• Directs on-site maintenance personnel and coordinates with external contractors as needed.
• On-call for security callbacks, emergency repairs, and weather events.
