Job summary

Nutley Board of Education is seeking a Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance in our school buildings, ensuring safe and clean environments for students, staff and visitors. The role includes housekeeping tasks, equipment upkeep and assisting with events.

Under supervision, you will secure facilities, handle waste and support groundskeeping, deliveries and daily operations across multiple school sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous cleaning and maintenance experience desirable.
• State license/ability to provide own transportation (vehicle).

Responsibilities

• Checks and secures building at shift start/end.
• Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms and offices.
• Sweep, mop, strip and wax floors; clean carpets and blinds.
• Wash walls, ceilings, windows and doors.
• Replace light bulbs and assist in setup for events.
• Snow removal and grounds maintenance as needed.
• Receive deliveries and help move materials.
• Empty wastebaskets and support recycling program.
