Job summary

A Texas education district is seeking a Mechanic to perform major and minor mechanical repairs on vehicles, ensuring safety and performance. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least two years of experience in repairing trucks and/or buses. Responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, emergency vehicle management, and passing safety inspections. This is a full-time position offering a daily rate between $24.66 and $34.41.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in general repairs on trucks and/or buses.
• Ability to obtain Bus Driver Certification and DOT physical.
• Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on district vehicles.
• Service vehicles according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
• Make emergency calls when vehicles have problems in the field.

Ability to diagnose mechanical problems

Effective communication skills

Diesel and Gas Diagnostic experience

Ability to obtain State Vehicle Inspection Certification

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Valid Texas driver’s license
