West Virginia K-12 Jobs in Central Office is seeking a Professional Accountant to support the Treasurer and Superintendent in county-wide financial operations. The role includes accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, fixed assets, and financial reporting within the Mingo County Schools system.

The position requires CPA, MA or BA in Accounting with 24 accounting hours, strong MS Office and WVEIS skills, and a proven record of reliability and compliance with laws and policies.

Qualifications

• CPA, MA, or BA in Accounting and/or Business Administration with an accounting specialization.
• Minimum 24 hours in accounting coursework.
• Ability to manage budgets and follow written and oral instructions.
• Proven ability to work cooperatively with other departments.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office and WVEIS.
• Excellent references and prior positive evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Handle financial accounting functions: accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, receivable, and fixed assets.
• Gain working knowledge of payroll and accounting systems (WVEIS and related programs).
• Understand WVDE purchasing policies and county procedures.
• Assist in developing improved financial procedures for county programs.
• Assist in audits and reconciliations with independent auditors and schools.
• Support monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Prepare annual budgets and financial statements; aid in training staff.
• Attend local/state meetings as requested and perform assigned duties.
