Job summary

Fiddlehead School of Arts & Sciences is seeking a dependable School Custodian & Maintenance Assistant to keep our facilities clean, safe, and welcoming. The role combines custodial duties with light maintenance and helps support classrooms and common areas in Gray, Maine.

The ideal candidate takes pride in a neat environment, can work independently, and handles practical projects. 25 hours per week, afternoons/evenings; fingerprinting is required by Maine law.

Qualifications

• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to safely use common cleaning tools and equipment.
• Ability to work around children in a professional and respectful manner.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other school spaces.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling; monitor and replenish supplies.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly kitchen/cafeteria area.
• Hang whiteboards, bulletin boards, shelving, artwork, and other classroom materials.
• Assemble furniture and equipment; perform minor repairs and basic maintenance.
