Job summary

Lubbock-Cooper ISD is seeking a custodial staff member to clean and maintain district facilities, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Responsibilities include following a cleaning schedule, performing minor repairs, and assisting with event setup.

The role requires reading and applying cleaning instructions, operating equipment, and complying with safety procedures. Experience is not required but reliability and physical stamina are essential for daily responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety instructions.
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building/grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a cleaning schedule for floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep school buildings and grounds neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for trash storage and disposal.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
• Assist with lunchroom setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report major repair needs to the principal.
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning to maintain appropriate temperatures and energy efficiency.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
• Assist in setting up facilities for special events.
• Open/close buildings, check exit doors, and follow safety procedures during occupancy.
