Job summary

Hudson Independent School Dist Maintenance Department - Lufkin, Texas is seeking a Custodian to clean and maintain district facilities and grounds, ensuring safety and efficiency of operations.

The role requires following cleaning procedures, performing minor repairs, and maintaining inventory of supplies while coordinating with the supervisor for major repairs and event setups. The position is open to varied shifts and potentially both full-time and part-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, on phone, or in writing.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a cleaning schedule including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep buildings and grounds neat and clean; sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas.
• Comply with local laws for trash storage and disposal.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and request more as needed.
• Assist with lunchroom setup and arrange tables/chairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report major repairs to supervisor.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by supervisor.
• Assist in setting up facilities for events.
• Assist Maintenance Office Staff with routine clerical duties if assigned.
