Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 campus environment. The role includes cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas across the campus, with routine sweeping, mopping, and debris removal.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• One year of prior similar work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairs.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment to clean areas using hand trucks if needed.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, and mirrors with cleaners.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or seasonal tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety and quality standards.
