Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a dependable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways across K-12 and higher education campuses.

You will follow safety procedures, operate cleaning equipment, and communicate with supervisors to maintain clean, safe facilities. No formal education is required; on-the-job training is provided, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred: Prior customer service experience.
• Preferred: One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop, and remove debris; clean spills; maintain floor cleanliness.
• Regularly empty trash; maintain recycling in designated areas.
• Follow safe procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors and managers.
• Move furniture and equipment to clean areas as needed.
• Clean interior glass, windows and mirrors; wipe tables and desks.
