Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I to maintain clean and healthy facilities for students and staff. The role involves routine cleaning, disinfecting, and basic upkeep across multiple areas within the county’s schools.

The position may require extended hours, inclement weather adjustments, overtime, and summer hours as needed. Prior custodial experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of custodial work methods and safety practices.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects offices, classrooms, bathrooms, gymnasiums, and more.
• Collects trash and recyclables and transports to proper containers.
• Ensures doors/windows are locked and secures the building at shift end.
• Moves furniture and operates custodial equipment per instructions.
• Replaces light bulbs/ceiling tiles and reports repairs.
