Job summary

RSU 57 Massabesic School District in Waterboro, Maine, is seeking a dependable custodian for Massabesic Middle School. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms and common areas, and performing routine maintenance.

The position reports to the Head Custodian or Lead Custodian, requires a high school education or equivalent, basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Ability to clean equipment and machines.
• Some knowledge of use and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain a generally positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas of the facility, including classrooms, hallways, rest rooms, and common areas.
• Performs general maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and operation of the facility.
• Ensures general security of the facility during shifts and verifies doors are secure.
• Reports maintenance concerns to Head or Lead Custodian for additional support.
• Participates in snow removal activities as needed.
• During summer, performs cleaning and maintenance and may assist with district projects.
• Adheres to district policies and procedures.
• Regularly lifts 5-20 pounds; frequently 20-50 pounds; constant walking and standing.
• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing and kneeling; occasional crawling or sitting.
