Job summary

RSU 57 Massabesic School District is seeking a 2nd shift custodian to maintain the cleanliness of school facilities, perform light maintenance, and support building operations in Waterboro, Maine. This role reports to the Head Custodian or Lead Custodian and requires the ability to work with a team.

Duties include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, assisting in security checks, snow removal, and summer cleaning.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Ability to clean equipment and machines.
• Some knowledge of use and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain a generally positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas of the facility, including classrooms, hallways, rest rooms, and common areas.
• Performs general maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and operation of the facility.
• See to the general security of the facility during regular shifts, making sure doors are locked and secured, etc.
• Reports to the Head Custodian (or Lead Custodian at smaller schools) and informs them of any building maintenance concerns that would require additional support from the Building Maintenance Department.
• Takes part in any or all parts of snow removal: shoveling, snow blowing/plowing, sand/salt treatment of walkways.
• During the summer months, performs total cleaning and general maintenance of the building. May be assigned to any crew for general district projects as necessary.
• Observes all district policies and procedures.
• Constant lifting of 5-20 pounds.
• Frequent lifting 20 to 50 pounds.
• Constant walking and standing.
• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing and kneeling.
• Occasional crawling, sitting, stooping.
• There are times when working conditions require exposure to cold or warm temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Under the supervision of the Head or Lead custodian, will assist in the setup of Special Events.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
