Job summary

Jefferson Parish Schools MATAS ELEMENTARY in Metairie, LA is seeking a 4hr Custodian to join our facilities team. The role involves opening/closing the building, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and assisting with minor repairs and maintenance tasks.

The successful candidate will supervise custodial staff, coordinate with the principal, and support school activities and events as needed. Strong reading, writing, and basic math skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write effectively and comprehend operation instructions for equipment.
• Basic math skills to review receipts and timekeeping information.

Responsibilities

• Opens building in morning; secures building in afternoon.
• Operates HVAC systems in absence of engineer.
• Replaces light bulbs and performs minor repairs.
• Receives supplies and coordinates custodial staff and cafeteria/stadium duties.
• Reports to principal on building condition daily.
• Cleans and maintains classrooms, halls, and entrances as scheduled.
• Supervises custodial staff and coordinates tasks with the principal.
