Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools is seeking a School Custodian to provide custodial services ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Under supervision, you will support readiness of FLACS facilities across assigned sites and participate in ongoing maintenance and safety tasks.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, proven custodian experience, and a strong commitment to reliability, teamwork, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate; facilities-related education preferred.
• Must be in very good physical condition and able to lift 35+ lbs.
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness are essential.
• Excellent time and attendance record.
• Proven custodian/janitor experience in similar settings.
• Nurturing, welcoming personality and team spirit.
• NYS fingerprint clearance is required.
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and safe chemical disposal.
• Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain facilities and grounds for sanitary, safe environments.
• Move books, files, boxes, and furniture as needed.
• Clean and sterilize high-use areas to reduce bacteria.
• Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage as required.
• Perform building maintenance: drywall, carpentry, lighting, painting, landscaping.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars for job duties.
• Maintain exterior (snow/ice removal, trash) as needed.
• Carry a handheld radio on-site when assigned.
• Follow laws and company policies; report emergencies as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
