Job summary

ESCNJ in Piscataway, NJ seeks an Anticipated School Custodian to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment. This twelve-month position starts immediately, pending criminal history clearance, with responsibilities across unlocking/locking doors, alarm systems, and building security.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Boiler Operator's License (Black Seal) must be acquired not later than the second consecutively scheduled licensing test date following the commencement of employment.
• Submit to and pass a criminal background check.
• Submit to and pass a physical examination by physician
• Physically able to climb steps, step ladders and scaffolding
• Able to operate cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines, vacuums, etc.
• Ability to relate to staff and students

Responsibilities

• Unlock and lock school doors at start and end of day.
• Deactivate or activate burglar alarm system; ensure building security on closing.
• Check heating and cooling systems to assure operation.
• Clean and dust offices and assigned areas.
• Clean bathrooms and replenish supplies.
• Remove garbage and manage recycling; handle disposal.
• Maintain floors with sweeping, mopping, and floor scrubber use.
• Change overhead light bulbs as needed.
• Assist with summer cleaning and painting tasks when school is not in session.
