Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at K-12 or higher education campuses. The role involves cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, plus following safety and chemical-use procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for use of chemicals and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, mirrors with cleaners and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform seasonal tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and polish as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance and quality standards established by ABM and authorities.
