Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a Custodian for full-time or part-time work in a 12-month schedule. The role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment across school facilities, with duties ranging from cleaning classrooms to restrooms and common areas.

The work requires adherence to policies and the ability to perform various manual tasks, including light maintenance and setting up rooms for meetings. Start date and location are to be determined.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write at a level required by the job.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Custodial experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness both inside and outside the facility through the execution of established procedures.
• Inspect school grounds daily to remove debris and other items that could become a safety hazard or detract from the general appearance of the school.
• Clean classrooms, including but not limited to, removing trash, dusting furniture and equipment, sweeping and mopping the floors, and polishing metal fixtures.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including but not limited to, fixtures, sinks, urinals, toilets, showers; replenish supplies in restrooms.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Clean all staff and special purpose areas, including but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of windows, mirrors, walls, desks, and tables/countertops.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Custodial experience preferred
