Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or college/university campus. The role covers classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas to ensure a clean, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience is preferred.
• One (1) year of prior similar work experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop, and remove debris; clean spills and floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain clear communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Move furniture and equipment to access areas for cleaning.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors; wipe tabletops and surfaces.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as lawn care or snow removal as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, and quality standards.
