Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Building Custodian I to perform custodial maintenance and cleaning within a middle school building. The role involves semi-skilled cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, event preparation and post-event cleanup, and light maintenance tasks as directed by the head custodian or principal.

Minimum one year of custodial experience preferred. Must be able to lift and move items, operate cleaning equipment, and follow written and verbal directions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, and appropriate use of supplies and equipment.
• Ability to operate various equipment used for cleaning floors and carpets.
• Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Maintains building and grounds in an acceptable condition.
• Cleans light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, bleachers, blinds and stadium.
• Operates scrubbing, buffing and waxing equipment on floors.
• Cleans, disinfects, and restocks restrooms.
• Prepares for and cleans up after events in the building.
• Moves furniture and equipment as directed by head custodian or principal.
• Maintains grounds appearance including shrubs and parking areas.
• Responds to staff requests in a timely manner.
• Performs minor repairs and other duties as assigned.
