Job summary

Johnston County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Smithfield-Selma High School in Smithfield, NC. This 12-month position reports to the Principal and involves general custodial duties at Smithfield-Selma HS.

Responsibilities include floor care, restroom maintenance, trash removal, light groundskeeping, and occasional minor maintenance. Must be able to lift 25–50 lbs and be eligible for a Class B CDL; training and development opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Must be able to lift 25–50 lbs.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
• Attends job-related training classes and workshops.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors.
• Clean restrooms and replenish paper supplies and soap.
• Dust desks and furniture.
• Empty trash and recyclables.
• Polish windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and fixtures.
• Shovel snow and apply de-icing compounds as needed.
• Set up furniture for meetings or events.
• May open/close buildings and adjust lighting/AC.
