The School Custodian performs general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college, or university campus environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior customer service experience
• One (1) year of similar work experience

Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles in all designated areas
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or issues with building systems
• Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recyclables into proper receptacles
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Move cabinets, furniture, and equipment as needed for cleaning
• Clean interior glass, windows, partitions, and mirrors
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, and perform seasonal tasks like snow removal
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and polish fixtures as needed
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures
