Job summary

Hutto ISD Transportation oversees safe movement of students at intersections and school crossings. The Crossing Guard role involves monitoring traffic, assisting children across streets, and reporting violations to police for enforcement actions.

Work is outdoors and requires constant alertness to traffic and student movements to ensure safety and orderly flow. Ideal candidates will know traffic regulations as they relate to pedestrians, be able to work tactfully with students and the public,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic regulations as they relate to control of traffic and pedestrians
• Ability to work tactfully and effectively with school children, school personnel, vehicle operators and the public
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergencies
• Ability to prepare work and violation reports
• Ability to work out of doors under varying climatic conditions

Responsibilities

• Direct vehicular and pedestrian movements at intersections and crossings
• Monitor traffic and ensure safety of school children
• Report violations to police or appropriate authorities as required
• Remain alert to changing conditions and respond calmly in emergencies
