Job summary

Waco ISD in Waco, TX seeks a Crosswalk Guard to help students safely cross roadways at school crossings and reach campus on time.

Requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and a valid Texas driver’s license; training will be provided. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with outdoor duties and responsibilities across assigned crossings. You will wear a hat and reflective vest, stop traffic when children enter the crosswalk, and report unsafe behavior.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Special Knowledge/Skills: None required – Will train applicants in techniques used to safely cross students

Responsibilities

  • Be at assigned school crossing(s) on time and stay at assigned post for the complete scheduled time.
  • Stop all traffic before allowing children to enter crosswalk; cooperate with any traffic signal in place.
  • Stand in the middle of the crosswalk with hand held out; stop sign held high until all children are out of the crosswalk.
  • Wear the issued hat and reflective vest at all times and carry the hand held stop sign.
  • Report any disobedient children to supervisor or school personnel.
  • Report motorists that repeatedly disobey instruction to stop and yield to pedestrians to the WISD police supervisor.
  • Notify supervisor of changes in home address or phone number.
  • Notify supervisor if unable to report to post on time or if early departure is needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
