Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a part-time School Crossing Guard to help ensure safe student movement at designated crossings. The role includes standing in a highly visible location, signaling and stopping traffic as needed, and wearing the required uniform outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work is approximately ten hours per week, split between morning and afternoon shifts, with occasional substitutions at different locations.
The school crossing guard, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion related to the safe movement of students crossing public roadways when walking or bicycling to and from school. Employee performs school-based work to carry-out Board of Education policies under the direction of the assigned school's principal.
The scheduled work time varies and it is determined by the location of the assignment. The position works approximately ten (10) hours per week, one (1) hour in the morning and one (1) hour in the afternoon. School Crossing Guards without an assigned location may be asked to substitute at different locations. The position is required to wear a uniform and to work outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
