Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; able to communicate with staff, students, parents and the public.
• Ability to interact with children in a positive and nurturing manner.
• Self-directed and works without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of traffic rules and safety regulations for school crossings.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Understanding of school, district and state rules and regulations.

$15/hr, 4 hours per week, in the mornings

Position Objective

Controls traffic at crossing points for school children in pedestrian lanes; assists and protects children while they cross the street.

Essential Functions

• Uses STOP sign, stops traffic and escorts or supervises children crossing streets at intersections
• Maintains surveillance of children walking or playing near street and warns them when necessary
• Reports accidents or unusual traffic incidents to school authorities or police
• Assists children who are lost, injured or in need of assistance
• Is aware of and enforces school safety standards at all times
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policy and regulations
