City of Grapevine is seeking a Crossing Guard to assist and supervise the safe crossing of children at school areas. The role requires practical safety checks, alertness to traffic, and reliable, punctual attendance in all weather conditions.
The job involves standing for long periods, working outdoors, and coordinating with traffic controls to ensure children reach school and return home safely.
Provide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways by stopping vehicular traffic and leading the children across the roadway when safe to do so.
Must have some education (formal or informal), reasoning ability and training which ensures the capability necessary to understand, recognize and follow applicable traffic laws and safety concerns associated with the position.
Must have a willingness and physical ability to work outdoors in extreme heat/cold and or other hazardous weather conditions.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, Titmus vision screening, Ishihara vision screening, and audio (whisper test) screening.
Must pass an annual physical, drug screen, vision and audio screening (annually prior to the beginning of the school year) to verify ability to perform tasks associated with job performance in a safe manner. Must pass an annual criminal background check (annually prior to the beginning of the school year). Must complete any and all required training.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to perform medium work that involves walking, standing, sitting or stooping. The employee frequently is required to stand; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
