Job summary

Duval County Public Schools is seeking a School Counselor to provide a comprehensive, equity-focused guidance program for students in the Jacksonville, FL area. The role emphasizes academic, career, and social/personal development with collaboration across teachers and staff.

The incumbent will monitor state assessments, support postsecondary planning, and deliver individual and group counseling while maintaining student records and contributing to transition activities for feeder schools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling and Guidance from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: None required. Salary is based on verified years of teaching experience.
• Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Specialization Requirements for Certification in Guidance and Counseling.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements a data-driven, comprehensive guidance program.
• Conducts classroom guidance activities focused on academic, career, and social-emotional learning.
• Monitors State Assessment requirements and course requirements for promotion and graduation.
• Implements district career program information on curriculum, scholarships, and postsecondary opportunities.
• Makes student referrals to school and community agencies and provides regular feedback to teachers.
• Offers developmental and preventive individual and group counseling for all students.
• Serves as resource person for staff on guidance-related activities and techniques.
• Coordinates district/community counseling services in the school.
• Provides students, parents, and teachers with necessary support and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
