Job summary

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is seeking a certified School Counselor for the KIPP Bold City High School (9-12) in Jacksonville, FL. The role emphasizes collaboration with families, teachers, and Learning Specialists to support attendance, social-emotional well-being, and credit recovery within a year-round, school-based framework.

Requirements include Florida PK-12 Guidance and Counseling certification, a relevant Master's degree, and at least one year of school counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Florida certification in Guidance and Counseling PK-12 is required.
• Bachelor's degree and a relevant Master's degree.
• At least one year of school counseling experience.
• Background check and Care Provider background screening as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and liaison for district MRT meetings.
• Support teachers with in-class guidance and character education.
• Provide individual or small-group counseling for students.
• Update leadership on student well-being based on interactions with families and assessments.
• Assist students with challenging behaviors.
• Monitor attendance and engage families to improve rates.
• Collaborate with families and community resources to build programs.
• Onboard new families to KIPP.
• Oversee summer reading and credit recovery programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school or regional leadership.

Education

Bachelor's degree and a relevant Master's degree to meet the standards outlined for certification

Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Guidance and Counseling Pre-K-12
