Job summary

Monticello Middle School is seeking a long term substitute School Counselor to support the students and operations of the middle school. The School Counselor provides direct and indirect services to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school, and facilitates communication among school, home and community providers.

Licensure requires a current School Counselor license with the Minnesota Department of Education.

Qualifications

• Current School Counselor license with the Minnesota Department of Education.
• Experience in school counseling preferred.
• Experience working with middle school age students.
• Experience/training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods preferred.
• Awareness of best practices for student counseling/procedures.
• Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism and ethical practices.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about students and families.
• Experience working with diverse students and families.
• Assist with supervision of students during non-academic education activities.
