Job summary

Monticello Middle School is seeking a long term substitute School Counselor to support the students and operations of the middle school. The School Counselor provides direct and indirect services to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school, and facilitates communication among school, home and community providers.

Licensure requires a current School Counselor license with the Minnesota Department of Education.

Qualifications

Current School Counselor license with the Minnesota Department of Education.
Experience in school counseling preferred.
Experience working with middle school age students.
Experience/training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods preferred.
Awareness of best practices for student counseling/procedures.
Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community and staff.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and ethical practices.
Maintain confidentiality of information about students and families.
Experience working with diverse students and families.
Assist with supervision of students during non-academic education activities.
