Job summary

Career Links seeks a compassionate Elementary School Counselor to deliver classroom-based SEL using the Second Step curriculum. You will promote self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making in elementary students.

Join a dedicated team providing social and emotional support in a hands-on, in-person setting and collaborating with teachers to reinforce SEL across the school community.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor Endorsement.
  • Experience with elementary students and SEL programs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom SEL lessons using Second Step.
  • Support student social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to reinforce SEL concepts.
  • Monitor progress and document as required by the district.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development.
  • Identify students needing additional services and refer appropriately.

Part-Time (2–3 Days Per Week) | Elementary School Setting | In-Person Services

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging Elementary School Counselor to provide social-emotional learning (SEL) support to elementary-aged students. This position focuses on delivering classroom-based SEL instruction utilizing the Second Step curriculum while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Position Responsibilities
  • Deliver classroom-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons using the Second Step curriculum.
  • Promote student development in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to reinforce SEL concepts throughout the school community.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth through preventative and developmental programming.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation as required by the district.
  • Participate in team meetings, staff collaboration, and professional development activities.
  • Assist in identifying students who may benefit from additional support services and make appropriate referrals.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor Endorsement required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) principles and evidence-based practices.
  • Experience with Second Step or similar SEL curricula preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and educational teams.
