Job summary

The Meriden Board of Education is seeking a Climate Specialist to support a positive school climate and assist in meeting behavioral expectations. The role reports to the building principal and collaborates with staff to support students across social, behavioral, and academic domains.

Responsibilities include conducting restorative practices and PBIS, participating in student meetings, and communicating effectively with students and staff.

Qualifications

• This position requires strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to work with all students, including those needing behavioral support.
• This position requires a DMV endorsement to transport students in the school van; candidates may obtain the credential within 90 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Support students in acquiring appropriate social, behavioral, and academic skills.
• Implement verbal management and de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in student meetings as appropriate or assigned by building principals.
• Communicate appropriately with students and staff.
• Employ Restorative Practices or PBIS strategies to support a positive climate.
• Engage in mediation to assist students with conflicts.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Building Administration.
