Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 credit hours in matriculated status at an accredited college/university.
• One year of full-time, paid or volunteer experience in community or schools developing or implementing conflict resolution programs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of paid urban school experience implementing conflict resolution programs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate smooth transitions at start and end of the school day.
• Assist in establishing and enforcing classroom rules and procedures.
• Enforce the Code of Student Conduct and school policies.
• Attend workshops and professional development on climate and behavior programs.
• Intervene to minimize conflicts between students and prevent escalation.

JOB GOAL : The Climate Specialist is responsible for assisting school staff in maintaining a climate conducive for learning. The Climate Specialist will monitor, track and support student behavior and enforce school and classroom rules in and out of the school building

RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitate smooth transitions at the start and end of the school day. Assist teachers in the establishment and execution of classroom rules and procedures that support teaching and learning. Enforces the Code of Student Conduct and all school policies and procedures.

Attends workshops and professional development sessions on climate and behavior enhancing programs and initiatives. Intervene to minimize potential conflicts between students to prevent escalation of situations. Participate in the implementation of the School Climate Plan.

Reinforce appropriate behavior with individual students. Monitor student behavior during unstructured time. Facilitate outdoor activities before and after school hours.

Perform related work as required. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree program at an accredited college or university or 60 credit hours in a matriculated status at an accredited college or university. One year of full-time, paid or volunteer experience participating in community or schools developing or implementing conflict resolution programs.

OR High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of paid urban school experience implementing conflict resolution programs. Additional Experience: Experience working in an urban school environment.
