Job summary

Chartwells K12 is hiring for a full-time Food Unit Lead at KIPP in Newark, NJ. The role runs Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. Prior food service experience is required; supervisory experience is preferred.

Compensation ranges from $16.50 to $17.00 per hour, with benefits available for associates. You will coordinate activities of other food-service staff, oversee food prep and service, help plan menus, and ensure timely meal service while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Prior food service experience is required.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of other food-service employees and creates an enjoyable dining experience.
• Oversees preparation and service of food and beverage items per company standards.
• Plans menus and ensures timely, efficient meal service and supervises serving of meals.
• Responds to customer complaints in person and via email.
• Trains employees and coordinates work to promote efficiency and excellence in service.
• Determines work procedures, prepares schedules, and expedites workflow.
• Uses systems for daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, payroll, time-keeping).
• Manages cash handling as per Food Accounting Manual.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources.
• Ensures sanitation and safety according to standards and regulations.
• Develops sanitation schedules and oversees adherence by staff.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Assists in selecting and orienting employees; oversees training in areas of responsibility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
