Job summary

The City of Cape Coral, FL, seeks a Substitute Food Service Worker to assist the Lead Food Service Worker with food preparation and serving for students and staff. You will maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and help with inventory and stocking.

Responsibilities include safe food handling, operating kitchen equipment, setting up and cleaning serving areas, and effective communication with students and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Food service experience preferred.
• Ability to interact positively with students and staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral/written instructions.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, cooks, and serves food to students in accordance with menus and nutritional guidelines.
• Handles and stores food safely, including maintaining proper temperatures per regulations.
• Operates and maintains food warmers, serving stations, and other kitchen equipment.
• Upholds safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in all food preparation and service aspects.
• Monitors equipment condition and reports maintenance or repairs to supervisor.
• Sets up and cleans cafeteria and serving areas before and after meal periods.
• Cleans and sanitizes dishes, appliances, and all areas in the food service area.
• Maintains inventory of food and supplies; assists in receiving, organizing, and stocking deliveries.
• Communicates effectively with students, staff, and supervisors for smooth operations.
• Attends vocational classes, seminars, and related in-service trainings as assigned.
• Performs other duties as required.
