Job summary

Gaston County Schools Career Site is seeking a Trainee Cafeteria Manager to learn overseeing school cafeterias, rotating among campuses to understand age groups and kitchen variations, assisting permanent managers.

You will supervise staff, assist in ordering, sanitation, POS operation, reporting, and teamwork; when acting as manager, you coordinate meals and ensure compliance with USDA and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3–5 years of supervisory experience in food service.
• Knowledge of USDA meal patterns and federal meal programs.
• Experience in large-scale food production and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating and supervising school cafeterias under supervision; rotate among campuses to learn variations in operations.
• Assist in ordering and receiving food items; monitor inventory and records; support POS operations and reporting.
• Provide on-the-job training and supervise cafeteria staff; participate in hiring and scheduling.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards; ensure meals are served on time and with quality.
• Assist with Free and Reduced meal program administration and customer service.
