Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria worker to assist the School Nutrition Supervisor in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff. You will help ensure a pleasant dining environment while maintaining clean, sanitary work areas.

The role includes following recipes, preparing pre-portioned items, and possibly operating a POS terminal. Must have a high school diploma or GED and pass required background checks with TB testing, plus six months of related kitchen

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of six months of quantity food preparation or related experience.
• Strong focus on sanitation and safety practices per HACCP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff according to menus and recipes.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety and quality.
• Set up serving lines, maintain cleanliness of serving areas and equipment.
• Assist in stocking supplies and rotating inventory as scheduled.
• Occasionally operate a point-of-sale terminal as cashier.
• Adhere to all district, school, and health department policies and procedures.
