Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is hiring a Food Service Assistant at Thomas J. Garner Elementary School. The role supports daily meal service, adheres to safety standards, and works in a school kitchen within the base operation.

The position is 5.75 hours per day on a 10-month schedule, with duties including food prep, serving students and staff, and maintaining a clean work area. Serv-Safe certification is preferred or obtainable within one year.

Qualifications

Ability to work cooperatively with others and accept direction.
Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
Must meet physical requirements including standing, lifting, and moving loads.
Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation and to learn computer systems used in food service.

Responsibilities

Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
Report food supply needs and problems to the Site Supervisor.
Serve food to students and adults as assigned using portion control standards as directed.
Maintain clean work area and operate kitchen equipment safely.
Adhere to health and safety policies and dietary regulations.
Attend mandatory training and support program standards.
Demonstrate courteous, professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
