Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a Cashier/Assistant in Child Nutrition Services to support meal preparation, serving, and cash handling at the school site. The role requires using a computerized POS system, recording sales and meal counts, and ensuring accurate deposits while maintaining cleanliness and compliance with nutrition policies.

Collaboration with staff and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be ServSafe certified or able to become certified within 90 days.
Experience in food service and/or cashier duties preferred.
Strong customer service and mathematical skills required.
Ability to read, interpret and follow recipes and instructions.

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and serve meals, salads and a la carte items per recipes.
Serve as cashier, collect money, and use POS to record sales and meals.
Record cash deposits and monitor meal counts and fees.
Participate in training for federally reimbursable meals and meal identification.
Follow standardized recipes and maintain cleanliness per sanitation codes.
Perform housekeeping tasks as needed and ensure serving areas are clean.
Adhere to Wake County Public School System Child Nutrition Handbook.
Provide courteous communication and customer service to students and staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
