Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a Cashier Assistant in the Child Nutrition Services department to prepare, cook, and serve meals, stock and maintain records. The role includes cashier duties, accurate meal counts, and recording fees for meals and other foods.

Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, ensuring sanitation, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in food service and/or cashiering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals, salads and a la-carte items per recipes.
• Serve as cashier using a computerized point-of-sale system and record sales.
• Follow procedures for money exchanges and deposits.
• Participate in on-the-job training for federally reimbursable meals and serving line duties.
• Read, interpret and follow standardized recipes for food preparation in a school cafeteria.
• Maintain sanitation codes and keep kitchen area and equipment clean.
• Perform housekeeping duties in serving, receiving and dining areas.
• Comply with Wake County Public School System Child Nutrition Handbook.
• Provide effective communication and customer service to students, parents and staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
