Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of food portions. Follows policies for preparation and handling of food.
• Learns to cook in basic areas (Main Dish, Salads, Vegetables, Bread, Desserts) and specialize in one area.
• Operates kitchen equipment with emphasis on safety (e.g., dish machine, ovens, mixers).
• Maintains a clean-as-you-go approach; accepts rotation in cleaning duties; keeps work area neat.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Ensures food is prepared and served attractively; takes action if not suitable for service.
• Maintains professional appearance with proper uniform and footwear.
• Notifies supervisor if unable to report to work so substitute can be arranged.
• May act as cashier during serving time as needed.
• Adjusts recipes for quantity and follows schedules.
• Abides by district policies and state/federal laws.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
