Job summary

Marshall Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for PK-13 students across eight buildings in the Marshall/Albion area. You will assist the head cook, handle cashier duties during lunch, and help maintain a clean, safe cafeteria environment.

Strong communication, reliability, and basic cooking skills are essential, with a preference for prior food service experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Organized, self-disciplined and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Good oral and listening communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily work schedule and other duties as assigned.
• Assist head cook with meal preparation and serving.
• Help ensure meals are appealing and meet nutrition standards.
• Maintain accurate cash sales records and take payments.
• Keep a clean, sanitary work area and equipment.
