Job summary

Newton Conover City Schools is hiring a PT Child Nutrition Assistant at Newton-Conover Middle School in Conover, NC. You’ll assist in meal preparation, follow recipes, keep the cafeteria clean, and provide friendly service to students and staff.

You’ll work in a fast-paced kitchen, follow safety and sanitation standards, handle basic arithmetic for portions, and support the cafeteria team under the nutrition manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Knowledge of food preparation and serving practices.
• Knowledge of Safety and Sanitation standards.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to read and understand simple written instructions.
• Ability to work at a quick and steady pace for prolonged periods of time with accuracy.
• Some lifting up to 50 pounds required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply quantity food preparation methods and procedures.
• Read, interpret, and follow standardized recipes.
• Properly use and care for all food preparation equipment.
• Follow Sanitation and Safety procedures.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with peers, manager, visitors, and parents.
• Assist in removing trash from the facility.
• Assist in cleaning serving lines, tables, equipment, and furnishings in the cafeteria.
• Washes dishes, cookware, and utensils as assigned.
• Cashier responsibilities and account for meals accurately.
• Provide good customer service.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager, supervisor, or director.
