Job summary

Suffolk Public Schools in Suffolk, Virginia seeks a FNS Associate 6.5 Hours with Benefits to prepare and serve meals under the Cafeteria Manager’s supervision.

Responsibilities include cooking and serving school meals, washing pots, operating equipment, keeping the kitchen sanitary, stocking supplies by FIFO, and may cashier lunch receipts.

Requirements: eighth grade or higher, health certificate for food prep; CPR and Heimlich training preferred; Non-Exempt, salary $19,796–$25,393.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of preparing and serving foods for large quantities.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards related to food service.
• Ability to work long hours standing and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving school meals in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
• Rotates through the full range of food service responsibilities.
• Washes pots, pans, kettles and other cooking utensils.
• Operates food service equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
• Cleans work area continually and performs daily cleaning duties.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary operation in accordance with Suffolk Health Department guidelines.
• Receives and stocks food using FIFO.
• May serve as cashier and handle lunch receipts.
• Performs related tasks as required.
