Job summary

North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to oversee daily dispatching, routing, and student conduct reporting for the district’s bus operations.

The role requires strong communication, map-reading ability, and proficiency with Google Suite, Traversa routing software, and related systems. Typical hours are 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with an ASAP start and hourly pay of $34.40. Benefits are provided per Local 70.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in school bus operations with 2 years experience with student behaviors.
• Ability to provide and maintain reliable attendance.
• Knowledge of school bus laws related to driving and operations.
• Strong map reading and drawing skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Problem-solving and calmness in emergencies or stress.
• Excellent daily record keeping and organizational skills.
• Strong writing, speaking, and listening communication skills.
• Willingness to follow directions and procedures.
• Competence with Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch: perform daily dispatching/office tasks; schedule and coordinate coverage; maintain dispatch logs.
• Maintain records of assignments; process time-off requests; provide direction to bus garage staff.
• Routing: assist in routing; use Traversa for routing, scheduling, GPS tracking; update student data in systems.
• Driver duties: be available on-call; ensure safety equipment, First Aid and CPR certifications; DOT drug testing compliance.
• Student Conduct Reporting: observe, document, and report student conduct; review video footage; coordinate with administrators.
