Job summary

The position is hourly and non-exempt, with duties as assigned and flexibility to cover as needed. A valid CDL with S and P endorsements and appropriate certifications are required or obtainable; prior bus-driving experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Indiana CDL with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements or ability to obtain.
• Valid Indiana Department of Education School Bus Driver Certification, or ability to obtain certification.
• Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Satisfactory driving record and successful completion of background checks and drug/alcohol screenings.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus on routes and trips in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and safety checks.
• Transport students to school, field trips, and events; maintain order on the bus.
• Follow routes, schedules, and emergency procedures; assist students with boarding.
• Report safety issues and document transportation records promptly.
• Maintain a clean bus interior and confidentiality of student information.
