Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid CDL with a school bus endorsement and evidence of a good driving record.
• Hold a school bus driver certificate signed by the Superintendent.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment driver training, basic and advanced bus driver education.
• Attainment of legal age per Ohio Revised Code.
• Physically qualified per Ohio Revised Code.
• Annual driver records check per Ohio Revised Code (Rule: 3301-83-07).
• Clear record evidenced by BCII and FBI.
• Subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Substitute for absent regular bus drivers and those covering field trips.
• Accompany regular drivers on routes to learn routes, students, and assist as needed.
• Perform shuttle trips for regular bus drivers as directed by the Director of Transportation.
• Participate in transportation department meetings for additional driving trips.
• Assist with seat repairs and bus maintenance (cleaning, disinfecting, fueling).
• Perform pre-trip work on spare buses to meet maintenance requirements.
• Support the mechanic by moving buses as needed, including pickups/drop-offs at repair shops.
• Assist with data recording and filing in the transportation office.
• All other related tasks as directed by the Director of Transportation.
