Job summary

Cobb County School District is seeking a School Bus Monitor to ride the bus, assist the driver, and help students with medical needs and behavior management. This hourly role supports safe transportation during the school day and may require lifting and physical tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting with loading/unloading, securing adaptive equipment, and communicating with dispatch and parents. Training is provided, and enrollment in the Bus Monitor Training Program is required.

Qualifications

• Educational level: None; High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Certification/License: None
• Experience: None
• Physical Activities: Lifting/bending/standing; able to lift equipment and/or a student weighing 40 pounds
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; proper use of payroll reporting device
• Other: Pre-employment and annual physical examination; must complete Bus Monitor Training Program

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance; shifts may vary.
• Contacts dispatch for absences per Driver's Handbook.
• Rides bus on each route to ensure safety of children.
• Learns route to assist substitute driver.
• Assists with keeping records of bus issues.
• Attends required trainings and meetings.
• Assists with loading/unloading students and seating and safety belting.
• Secures wheelchairs and adaptive equipment as needed.
• Keeps track of student belongings and home/school communications.
• Assists driver in emergencies and evacuations as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by administrator.
