Job summary

Voyageur Bus Company in Minnesota is seeking a dedicated School Bus Route and Charter Driver to transport students and passengers safely along designated routes or charters. The role requires strong communication, basic mechanical knowledge for pre-trip inspections, and a customer‑service oriented approach when working with children or passengers with special needs.

You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain records, coordinate with dispatch, and ensure compliance with traffic laws.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in school bus driving preferred, but not necessary.
• Basic mechanical understanding to perform pre-trip inspections.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English; multilingual skills are a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
• Ability to write reports and maintain accurate records.
• Previous childcare or working with children is an advantage.
• Must be able to pass background checks as required by company policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a vehicle along assigned routes & charters, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
• Assist passengers, including children and those with disabilities, during boarding and disembarking.
• Maintain accurate records of passenger counts, mileage, and any incidents that occur during the route.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding route changes or passenger needs.
